I read reviews for other Elemental 8's. Mine is a FP-8 no other numbers or letters, just FP-8, so I think it may be an older model. Anyway, I usually read the negative reviews first to see if there is the same problem over a number of years. I have to say this processor worked perfectly right out of the box. There is nothing fancy, no fancy lids that have catches you have to use to close it, no timers, no extra stuff to break. It has a chopping blade and the bottom blade is close to the bottom. If you read the instructions, it will tell you, if your chopping onions, green peppers other vegetables like these to push the pulse button 10 times. If you run it and don't pulse it you will have almost liquid. I made salsa, 2 green, 2 red peppers, some hatch peppers, some seranno peppers, 3 large onions, 8 lbs of tomato's, and a bunch of other ingredients, all through this processor. I love it, I am so happy with it that I have figured out that, except for a factory defect which will happen, the customer just has to be smarter than the processor. This model the Elemental 8 is to easy to use, so intuitive and only a bowl, a chopper and some graters and slicers, a top, and a plunger for slicing, that's it. Simple, Simple, Simple. I read one review that said they did not like it because the stem, that the bowl sets over and spins the accessories had to be cleaned. ? huh, I suppose if you filled it to the very top of the bowl some liquid may somehow get onto that spindle, but I really don't see how. I love it, love it, love it and would recommend it to my family, friends and anyone else that want a machine that does what it's supposed to without a bunch of extra latches, switches, etc. etc.On the second try using this unit, it fails to turn on. I've only cut up cauliflower in it, so it definitely wasn't anything strenuous. After looking at the bottom of the container portion, some plastic pieces have broken off, making this thing unusable. I have contacted Kitchen Aid for warranty service, but I'm frustrated that it didn't even last two tries in.My advice: look for another brand. My wife and I received this for a wedding gift, but Kitchen Aid product have been really dropping in reliability as of these past few years. This will be my last Kitchen Aid investment. The container handle broke after only 3 uses. I am extremely disappointed as this is not something I used everyday and now the window for returns is closed but its only been a couple if months since it was delivered. $100 for 3 uses is extremely expensive and this item is not worth buying.Would love to add a review of the actual product but after a 24 hour delay in the delivery due to damaged packaging, when the product did arrive, it didn't work. No obvious damage to the food processor but no power to the unit. No lights coming on when the buttons pressed. No reaction at all. Tried a different power socket in the kitchen with the same results. Disappointing to have to bake the fool proof way - by cutting butter into flour by hand. Being returned.I bought this Cuisinart Food Processor to replace our Kitchen-aid processor that died after 20 years of service.I choose this model because I didn't want a BIG 12 Cup processor and a 4 cup unit was too small. The 6-8 cup size is just right for our family ... not too big ... not to small. As far as quality is concerned this Cuisinart Processor is well made but is much lighter than our previous Kitchen-aid unit. The difference in weight is mainly due to the motor. While this Cuisinart does the job, on heavier tasks you can really notice the difference in motor power. While the motor seems to be the biggest differentiator between our old and new food processor the medium blade on this Cuisinart is preferred to the standard blade on the kitchen-aid. The medium blade slices cucumbers for pickles thicker and shreds cheese better than our previous kitchen aid. The design of the cutting blade and collection tub collects some debris and is more difficult to clean than the kitchen-aid but all in all this Cuisinart is also fairly easy to clean. All in all this Cuisinart does the job and was 40% less money than the comparable Kitchen-aid unit which is the main reason I chose to buy it. The motor strength is adequate for my needs however if you are a baker or a die-hard food processor user you might want to consider the kitchen-aid over the Cuisinart and spend a few more dollars initially, in the long run it would be worth it. Overall I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend purchasing this unit based on price.Came on time in perfect shape. Very clear instructions included. There are 3 blades that come with machine, but two of the blades have double sides. so you have 5 different chopping mechanisms. One of the blades acts like a mandolin for thin slices. Perfect for scalloped potatoes. I used this setting to slice zucchini for a keto lasagna. I havent had much change to experiment with all the settings yet, but looks like it can do everything I need. Cleans up easy.Cheaply made. The handle broke off in less than two weeks of use. Don't waste your money.
